Heiko has had some 40 years of experience in foraging and though a Dutchman by birth, has been at home all over Europe including Germany, Ireland, England.
For the last 10 years he has lived close to the Via Francigena pilgrim route in Italy, where he lives as a subsistence farmer, cultivating a small piece of Ligurian hillside along permaculture principles, and by gathering food from the wild.
He currently splits his time between Northern Ireland, where he runs permaculture and foraging courses, and Italy where he also runs tutored wine tastings.
He is currently working on a book on the Permaculture Vineyard.
